Thanks for celebrating podcast 25 with me! Listen in here.
Here's a partial result of our Scrap-a-palooza event at guild. At top, you can see the ever-vigilant Inspector Betty - who did not go to guild, but was happy to see the project that came home.
Here's more information on how to make these blocks. You don't have to use a foundation muslin, but it does make the project a tad easier.
And next - the giveaways!!! Just leave a comment (by noon ET on Sunday, Feb. 27) telling me where you typically listen to the podcast - I'll draw three names, e-mail you if you're one of them, and you can win one of these three prizes:
Here are 25 (it had to be!) 7-inch felted wool squares, cut from spanking-clean-washed-in-hot-water sweaters. You can add these to your own squares and have a great, cozy throw - they're also super for potholders. Have fun with them!
And here's the quilted jewelry roll! Surely you'll want this for some of your bedazzling finery when you travel to Prince William's wedding this spring.... ;-)
If one Morsbag is good, two will be better! OK, so I haven't made the second one yet, but I'll have it done by the time I draw winners on Feb. 27. Keep one, give one to a friend! Genuine vintage tablecloth at work here...a friend gave it to me after cleaning out copious amounts of table linens from her grandmother's home.
UPDATE: Forgot to add these felted hat and mittens photos last night. So thick, so warm, so cozy!
Hope you can see how these pattern pieces work - one thumbless piece for the back of the hand, two thumbed pieces for the palm. Then just add a cuff from the ribbed sweater bottom. Make the ribbed cuff just a tiny bit smaller than the bottom of your mitten, and ease it in. Instant warmth and great fit.
And as we indulge in a little toast to Episode 25, here are two lovely ladies enjoying Finger Lakes Wine Country wares with clever hand-knit wineglass holders - made out of scrap yarn, and just the ticket for a chilly night!
And here's their warm-weather cotton version -- just made out of a scrap of fabric with an elastic casing at the bottom to secure the wine glass. Suzanne even put some cute button embellishments on the top edge - so cute for a warm summer's evening. People were coming into the store all evening saying, "we just saw these women with the greatest wine glass holders...!"
Thanks so much, and don't forget to enter the giveaway drawing!! The question: Where do you listen to GreenStitch?
Woohoo! Hope I win the felted wool... Prince William is going to get my negative RSVP shortly.
ReplyDeleteI usually listen to your podcasts while I sit and sew--gives me something to listen to and often inspires me to start even more projects!
ReplyDeleteDur- forgot to say I listen to your podcast all over the house and in the car.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on episode 25! I got up early to sew and enjoyed listening to it in my studio. :-)
ReplyDeleteSo much great info in your podcast. Keep up the good work. I listen everywhere except the car (my car adapter is awful). I listen in the grocery store, quilting, cooking, housework, feeding the chickens............ Thanks for the podcast. Tami in Denver aka chickenquilter or knoxblox!
ReplyDeleteI listen to your podcast right before I fall asleep at night. I also listen to it when I am cutting out sewing patterns or cutting out fabric
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for a great podcast! I like to listen at home while hand quilting or in the car on my commute to work.
ReplyDeleteLove your green ideas!
I like to listen to your podcast just before I go to sleep. It allows me to relax my mind from all the daytime issues, and think about sewing and crafting, which is always pleasant. And you have a very pleasant voice too!
ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying your podcast! I listen to it while walking or doing work about the house or sewing...
ReplyDeleteI'm a new listener and am glad other podcasters mentioned you! I listen while getting ready for work, walking and also right before going to bed. Especially if I didn't get to craft that day its nice to listen and learn about crafting! Thanks for all the great green ideas!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on number 25! I have fibromyalgia and hence it takes a while for both mind and body to get up to a functioning speed so I like to get my iPod, plug it into my 'speaker pillow' (such a great invention!) and get inspired and informed whilst the Fibro Fog clears. Thanks for such a great podcast Ann!
ReplyDeleteWay to go on 25 episodes! Love them all. I listen to you at work, it gets me inspired to go home and create. Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteI listen to your podcast at these times
ReplyDeletePut my ipod on a speaker in the bathroom so I can listen
- When brushing and flossing my teeth!
- In the shower
Also, I walk a lot for exercise (and to save gas running errands), so GreenSTitch is a good companion then
I love listening to podcasts during my commute to work. I also listen while quilting and doing chores.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on #25!
This was the first time I listened to your podcast. I plan on coming back again. Congradulations on #25.
ReplyDeleteI also meant to say that I liked your new jazz theme music :-)
ReplyDelete(No, I'm not trying to increase my chances on the drawing!)

Hi There!
ReplyDeleteI listen to pod casts while in my sewing room, but for your 25th one I am listening at work which is making the day go by much faster. (No, I am not brown nosing, I really am and it really does!!) Thanks for all the good ideas and information. Congrats on your 25th podcast!
I usually listen to the podcast while I get ready for work in the morning. But sometimes I listen while I do housework, or drive to work.
ReplyDeleteCarrie x
I always listen in the car, usually on Monday mornings; the fact that you post a new podcast on Sundays makes the beginning of the work week a little brighter. It inspires me and keeps me warm as I think about all of the projects I will get to later on in the week.
ReplyDeleteSeeing those mittens makes me almost - ALMOST - miss living in Western New York so I'd have a good excuse to make them. But I'd still love to get those felted sweater squares...oh, the banners I'd make!
There is no usual place for me, though likely I'm sitting on the couch knitting or driving in the car.
ReplyDeleteLoved the cat pictures of my namesake.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 25! I've listened to each one! I generally listen to them on my ipod at night. After a long day,,,it's "ME" time and I relax and draw in my sketch book. Sometimes I listen on my way to work, too!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should have added my contact info- just in case I win (hoping for the wool squares!) I've been meaning to felt some sweaters!!
ReplyDeleteI listen to green stitch on my iPad that goes everywhere with me when I have to leave my sewing room. Sits in the passenger sit of the car, on the counter in the kitchen etc. I don't throw in the trash any size fabric. I have a a dog bed pouch made turned right side out with the opening still open and any small pieces I can't use goes in that. When it is full a sew the opening then donate to the pound for some lucky pooch. Then make another pouch to catch the next scraps.
ReplyDeleteI just found green stitch a few weeks ago and have listed to all the past podcasts. I just love it! I listen on my ipod at work, first because I have a job that allows me to listen to my ipod with few restrictions, and second because I have a very annoying coworker and my ipod helps to drown him out :)
ReplyDeleteHi, I listen to podcasts on my IPHONE each week as I make a 3 hour roundtrip visit to my sisters.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your podcast. I really enjoy listening to it as I sew on my latest project. Sometimes I put it on my ipod, it makes my walk go so much faster.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the milestone! I'm a felted wool gal but have heard you talking about the morse bags and have been hankering too! I listen while I'm sewing or on my work trips. You've helped me get through my current block piecing....thanks!
ReplyDeleteI listen to Green Stitch while I do dishes, dusting, or driving. Keep those episodes coming! I am just addicted to thrift stores now, and its fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI listen to Green Stitch in my quilting studio. I just got done making a charity baby quilt with some fabric a friend gave me and I used your 5.5" x 3" rectangles and it turned out so cute. I also machine quilted it...my first machine quilted project! Thanks for all the great ideas.
ReplyDeleteI love this podcast. I'm so excited that someone is using recycled materials and makes stuff that I'm so interested in. I listed in my office/sewing room while my 15 month old son is napping.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 25! I'm finally getting around to listening today... catching up after vacation!
ReplyDeleteI listen while walking, or sewing, or housework...
That looks so precious! I think that people can create things like those using recycled materials. Don't you think?
